Pharmacy Quality Scheme (PQS) 2023/24

In 2023/24 there will be a reduced PQS (1 Gateway Criterion and 3 Domains) - contractors will have fewer activities to complete and total funding will reduce to £45m. The remainder of PQS funding (£30m) will be used as an alternative to reducing fees to help ensure that there is no over-delivery of fees in 2023/24.

Note: As the reduced PQS contains a clinical audit, NHS England have waived the (Clinical Governance) requirement to undertake 2 clinical audits in 2023/24.

To qualify for payment, you must meet the Gateway Criterion (by 31/12/23) and complete one or more of the schemes Domains (you must meet all Quality Criteria within in a Domain to be eligible to claim payment for that Domain). The declaration period will open at 09:00am on 05/02/24 and close at 11.59pm on 01/03/24 - you must submit your declaration (via the MYS portal) by 11:59pm on 01/03/24

Aspiration Payment:

As with previous schemes, contractors will be given an opportunity to claim an aspiration payment (optional). Contractors who wish to do this will need to make a declaration via the MYS portal indicating which domains they intend on completing before the end of the declaration period. The aspiration payment must be claimed between 09:00 am on 04/09/23 and 11:59 pm on 29/09/23. The aspiration payment will be reconciled with payment for the PQS 2023/24 on 01/04/24
